Regional Rails
  Hershey/Gettysburg/Dutch Country Region

The railroad capital of this region is Strasburg, southeast of Lancaster - it is the number one tourist railroad in the Nation - with more than 400,000 visitors every year. It will captivate you as you're taken on a tour of historic Lancaster County. The experience doesn't end there, however - any trip to the area would be incomplete without a stop at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania, which traces the development of railroads through exhibits that display a world-class collection of over 100 historic locomotives and rail cars.

Gettysburg Scenic Rail Tours
The Gettysburg Railroad is both a freight and a tourist railroad. A regularly-scheduled tourist trip runs a 16-mile round trip between Gettysburg and Biglerville and features a narrated look at the sites of some of the first-day battles of the Battle of Gettysburg. Seasonal and specialty runs are also offered throughout the year.

Wannamaker, Kempton, & Southern Railroad
The WK&S is one of America's oldest operating steam railroads. Round trip is under an hour and winds through scenic rural Pennsylvania. The railroad also operates a trolley on some dates instead of the train.

East Penn Scenic Railroad
Ride into gorgeous Dutch Country. Take the Pennsylvania German Line along the old Kutztown Branch of the Reading Railroad.

Middletown and Hummelstown Railroad
The M&H runs a passenger tour, beginning in Middletown, that lasts approximately one hour and fifteen minutes. The train stops and changes directions at Indian Echo Caverns, where passengers may choose to disembark for a 45-minute tour.

New Hope & Ivyland Railroad
View the beautiful old mansions and new suburban homes as well as the wooded areas and farms of Bucks County on a 1920's-vintage passenger car. Passengers can also be shuttled to nearby outlet stores.

Stewartstown Railroad
The Stewartstown railroad runs through farms and valleys toward new Freedom. The trip lasts about one and a half hours, and the volunteers who run the trip are helpful in explaining the history of the line.

Strasburg Railroad
The Strasburg is easily the busiest tourist railroad in the U.S., with over 400,000 passengers annually. Most of the route runs through Amish farms, and the trip lasts under one hour.

Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania
The museum houses more than 80 engines and cars, as well as over 100,000 archival items. Almost every exhibit has a direct tie to the history of Pennsylvania's railroads.
